PS: In order to keep readers’  eye on the route, not distract by the pictures, we made the pictures with transparence. We decide to use uniformed transparence for each pictures, because the effect of fade-away way is not obvious as excepted.

-         Clear end point

-         same amount of pictures on both maps on the same place

-         numbers starting from 1 instead of 0

-         only straight line (no doted)

-         starting picture normal, others more and more faded

-         distance between starting and end point

-         other kind of footsteps to indicate direction

Today, we carried out the map test at Den Haag central station. Here is the process.

2. Show one version of the map (10 x K and 10 x P).

‘You are going to visit Delft for shopping and visiting museums. Which route do you choose?’

Here are the final versions we made, according to the improvements below which we discussed after the concept presetation. Tomorrow we will test them out!!

We distributed tasks as follow:

Julie:

Make a plan for testing on next Wednesday (what’s the questions, different ways, each kind question for how many people, referencing on guidance)

Minyou:

Make the background picture less abstract, clearer for the roads and rivers (some kind cubes) (for better perception)

Haiyun:

Find 7 pictures for 7 spots in two maps, editing them nicer by Photoshop

Make the balloons on map horizontal, not vertical for saving the space

Yu-Fang:

Move out the trees in the center (we want to keep same inside area and outside area, only to highlight routes)

Add “K” and “P” for corresponding map

Make big space at the starting point (bigger difference to distinguish)

Make museum icon in 3D version on “museum map”, and make shopping bags icon in 2D version on “museum map” (let the main icon stand out, bigger difference)

Leave the bus and restaurant icons (too much information on map, only keep the important ones for tourist and our routes)

Adjust the shopping bags icons to fill the footprint area on “museum map”

We are planning to do the test on next Wednesday, June 10^th.

9:00 meet in IO Faculty, to print out the final version and to prepare everything

Then go to Den Haag or Rotterdam station to do the test (will be in Julie’s research plan)
